Global Ministries - Global Ministries is composed of Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and United Church of Christ. These churches are responsible for nurturing relations with international partners on behalf of Disciples and UCC. There are over 270 partner churches and organizations involved in about 70 countries around the world. For example, there is a mission in South Africa at the United Congregational Church of South Africa that is being aided by UCC to help the poor and marginalized suffering from HIV and AIDS. Kenya ClassromProject Kenya Charity, Inc - In July, 2010, eighteen Americans went to Migori, Kenya. This mission team finished constructing an early childhood classroom for children 4-6 years of age. They also installed a computer lab, taught classes, held several continuing education workshops for teachers, and interacted with the community. This trip brought many needed supplies, support and friendship to people who live on little. Chris and Cat Weinhold of First Congregational Church-UCC, Wisconsin Rapids were 2 of the 18 team members. Chris taught the kindergarten class music and Cat taught children how to play softball.

Honduras tripHonduras - A Reverse Mission Trip - Housing continues to be a huge concern for the people of Honduras after the devastation left by Hurricane Mitch in 1998. Church volunteers have spent 12 days living in Honduras last July, 2010, joining the Wisconsin Conference UCC Work Team to help improve the living conditions for the people of Honduras. Laura Buchs-Hammonds of First Congregational Church - UCC, Wisconsin Rapids was one member of the July, 2010 trip. Laura returned to Honduras on January 5th, 2011 to help finish the house she started earlier. She brought many articles of clothing, medicines, and school supplies that members of our congregation and the community contributed. Thanks to everyone who gave so generously! Everything was greatly appreciated!
