Music

The Psalmist writes, "I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee." 144:9.

A more contemporary writer notes, "When you sing, you pray twice." Music is indeed an important part of worshipping God at First Congregational UCC. Hymns, anthems and special musical arrangements are meaningful complements to our worship and work as a church. There are opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get more involved in the music of the church.

The Sanctuary Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.; free child care is provided during rehearsals. The choir sings September through Mid-June. The choir is a fun-loving group, which provides quality choral music in praise of God.

Sanctuary Choir is open to all who are 14 years old or older. All ability levels are welcome. Scholarships are available for students who are high school seniors or older, who plan on pursuing post secondary education. Weekly rehearsals and Sunday services are required.

Bell Choir
The Bell Choir rehearses Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m.; free child care is provided during rehearsals. The Bell Choir performs once a month during September through May. Bell experience is preferred, but not required. Classes are held periodically to train new members.

During the summer months, members of the congregation share their musical talents in worship, whether vocal or instrumental. Guest soloists are also featured.

The Bell and Sanctuary choirs are always looking for new members, even if you are not a member of the church, as long as you are willing to commit to rehearsals and performances. Please call the church office at 715-423-5474 or send an e-mail to the Church Secretary for the appropriate person you would like to get in touch with.
